Lightswitch Learning Announces New Title By Veteran TV Reporter Shelley Goldberg

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shelley’s Learning Adventures in NYC
By Shelley Goldberg

NEW YORK, NY, October 2019 — Lightswitch Learning (https://lightswitchlearning.com), a Sussman Education company and national K-12 education publisher, has announced the latest title in their 2020 catalog. The book, entitled Shelley’s Learning Adventures in NYC, is being promoted as an engaging and comprehensive family activity guide geared for parents, guardians, caregivers, and those in parent coordinator roles in schools.

About the Author

The author and guiding voice behind the book is that of veteran TV reporter Shelley Goldberg. As the Parenting and Family reporter for NY1 News for over 20 years, Ms. Goldberg has a wealth of knowledge to share about educational locations, experiences, and events across the five boroughs of New York City.

Shelley’s Learning Adventures in NYC is written in an accessible, guidebook format and contains 75 separate entries. Each entry discusses the location being visited, and provides helpful context and guiding questions. It also contains useful information for parents and guardians such as hours of operation, transportation accessibility, and cost, with the hope of making it easy for families to learn and explore together.

Parent Engagement

While the focus of the book is to act as a resource for family engagement, Lightswitch Learning also cites it as an important avenue for career exploration, diversity initiatives, and more. Attention is also given to different learning styles and interests, with the hopes that each child will find something that resonates with them.

Early reception for the book in school districts through New York City has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic making a particularly positive impression on Parent Coordinators. These individuals see the book as the resource parents need to continue students’ development during the summer/winter break, vacations, and throughout the year. According to Mr. Flores, a Parent Coordinator in District 7, the learning adventures detailed in the book provided him and his own children with “wonderful ideas to explore the diverse culture and locations around the city.”

Adam Reingold, publisher at Lightswitch Learning, hopes that the learning adventures detailed in the guide will help children develop essential academic and career readiness skills. The title, also soon to be available in Spanish and Chinese, will officially launch on November 13, 2019, and will be available through Lightswitch Learning directly and Amazon.
