About the Author:
Linda Taylor taps into her twenty-five years as a schoolteacher to write books that inspire students to acknowledge their feelings and work together to solve problems. Throughout her career as a teacher and more recently as an author, Linda has been passionate about nurturing children and giving them the skills to be the best they can be. Linda is also the author of the Amazing Annabelle series published by Lightswitch Learning.
Reviews:
“Linda Taylor completely captures the essence of multicultural family dynamics with the passages on the visiting extended family members from Ghana to Daring David’s home in the United States. She accurately describes the typical initial period of catching up, followed by discovering mutual likes (soccer in this case) and finding new mutual interests, making this story very true to life. Also well done is the explanation of naming conventions in parts of Ghana and West Africa, with their combinations of traditional and Western names. She handles these topics brilliantly and enables the reader to learn about different cultures in a fun way.”
—Patrick Kwasi Agyei Opon – Ghanaian parent
“Talented author Linda Taylor does it again! Daring David is a strong boy whose energy and excitement for life as a fourth grader at Melville Elementary School is inspirational. In December Festivities, David demonstrates great character and an open heart as he welcomes relatives from Ghana to his home and collaborates with his classmates and teachers in preparation for the school’s celebration of the Winter Solstice. From the first chapter, ‘Family on the Way,’ to the last, ‘The Winter Solstice Spectacular,’ David takes us on a joyful learning journey to discover how individual differences in cultures, ideas, and approaches to learning can blend together and serve to enrich us all.”>
